Urgent Care Near Oro Valley: What to Expect

Oro Valley has grown fast, and the wait to see a primary care doctor has grown with it. When your child spikes a fever on a Saturday, you roll an ankle on the Honeybee Canyon trail, or a UTI flares the night before a flight, you need a walk-in clinic that can diagnose and treat you in one visit — without the ER's four-hour wait or four-figure bill. Sanova Urgent Care was built for exactly that, a few minutes up Oracle Road from Rancho Vistoso, Sun City Oro Valley, Steam Pump Village and the Tangerine corridor.

Same-day illness care

Colds, flu, COVID and strep with rapid on-site tests; sinus, ear and eye infections; UTIs; stomach bugs, nausea and dehydration; asthma and COPD flare-ups; rashes, bites and stings; migraines.

Injuries with X-ray on site

Sprains, strains and suspected fractures from pickleball, cycling on the Loop, youth soccer at Naranja Park or a fall at home — imaged, read and splinted in the same visit. Cuts that need stitches or skin glue. Back, neck and knee pain.

Physicals, tests and screenings

Sports and school physicals for Ironwood Ridge, Canyon del Oro and BASIS Oro Valley athletes; drug testing and pre-employment screening for local employers; STI testing; blood panels and urine tests with fast turnaround.

Refills, IV fluids and more

Bridge prescription refills when you can't reach your PCP (no controlled substances); walk-in IV hydration for heat, hiking and hangovers; pediatric urgent care for the whole family.

Insurance and costs for Oro Valley patients

We accept Medicare and most Medicare Advantage plans — important for Sun City Oro Valley and our many retirees — plus Tricare, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, AHCCCS and most major PPO and HMO plans. An urgent care visit is typically billed at your plan's urgent care copay, usually a small fraction of an ER copay. No insurance? More questions from Oro Valley patients

What can Sanova treat that I might otherwise sit in an ER for?

Most of what fills an ER waiting room: infections and fevers, cuts that need stitches, sprains and suspected simple fractures (X-ray on site), dehydration needing IV fluids, rashes, UTIs, migraines, asthma flare-ups and stomach bugs. We treat these the same day, usually in under an hour, at a fraction of an ER bill. Only true life-threatening emergencies — chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding or trouble breathing — belong in the ER.

How long is the wait at Sanova compared with other urgent cares near Oro Valley?

We aim to keep waits under 15 minutes and most patients are in and out in under an hour, including X-ray or labs. Early mornings (7 to 9am) and mid-afternoons are usually quietest; Mondays and early evenings are busiest. Pre-registering online shortens check-in.

Do you take my insurance? I'm on Medicare / Tricare / UnitedHealthcare / Blue Cross.

Yes. We accept Medicare and most Medicare Advantage plans, Tricare, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, AHCCCS and most major PPO and HMO plans. If you're uninsured or between plans, we post transparent self-pay prices so you know the cost up front.

I'm running out of a prescription and can't get in to see my Oro Valley primary care doctor. Can you help?

In most cases, yes. If you're low on a routine maintenance medication — blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, diabetes, asthma inhalers and similar — our providers can evaluate you and write a bridge refill to carry you until your PCP appointment. We do not refill controlled substances.

I'm a winter visitor staying in Oro Valley. Can I be seen without a local doctor?

Absolutely. You don't need to be an established patient or have a referral. Bring a photo ID and your insurance card — out-of-state plans and Medicare are fine — and walk in. We'll send a visit summary to your home doctor if you'd like.

Do you offer IV fluids for dehydration after hiking or the summer heat?

Yes. IV hydration is available on a walk-in basis for dehydration from heat, hiking Catalina State Park or the Tortolitas, stomach bugs, migraines and travel. Our providers evaluate you first, and IV fluids start at $90.
